Affording College Workshops At SUNY Ulster October 24 and November 9
SUNY Ulster will host two workshops entitled Straight Talk About Affording College for prospective students, including high school juniors and seniors, and their parents or guardians. These workshops will present facts, figures and options for financing a college education. Both workshops, which are offered at no charge, will be held on the Stone Ridge campus of Ulster County Community College.
The first workshop, "Part 1: Financial Aid," takes place on Wednesday, October 24, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Vanderlyn Hall Student Lounge.
The topics covered will include how to begin the financial aid process, transfer opportunities and the SUNY Ulster admissions process.
Presenters are Sherry Tesler, assistant director of financial aid, Kate Smith, transfer coordinator, and Lucia M. Pecore, admissions recruiter.
Student Admissions Ambassadors will share their experiences as SUNY Ulster students and why SUNY Ulster was the right choice for them.
The second workshop, "Part 2: Scholarships," will be held on Tuesday, November 6, at the same time and place. Current SUNY Ulster students are encouraged to attend, as well as prospective students. The topics will include information about SUNY Ulster, general information about scholarships and the scholarship search process, Ulster Community College Foundation scholarship opportunities and how to write an outstanding scholarship essay. Presenters will be Burnelle Roser, assistant director of the College Foundation, Lucia M. Pecore, admissions recruiter, and Sheryl Chisamore, director of distance education. Student Admissions Ambassadors who are College Scholars or have received other Foundation scholarships will also speak.
